Character Counts

Posted by Aaron on March 25, 2007

I admire Elizabeth Edwards. Within my own life I have witnessed the courage that can be summoned in the circumstance of cancer. Mrs. Edwards remains in my prayers. I think she was right when she said that a more dire diagnosis would probably have meant a decision to hold or end the campaign. But they were assured she has a treatable cancer. I can see why John Edwards loves this woman, who seems to have a sense of both destiny and duty. Already they have endured great pain together. To those who would criticize continuing the political path I remind them of a woman of different attitude, Mary Todd Lincoln. Lincoln’s wife was moody -to say the least. Abraham Lincoln persisted in his career and his efforts for the nation despite her hadicaps and despite the loss of a child. I believe Elizabeth Edwards has a commitment to public service that complements her husband’s. We may be a grateful nation for that someday.

Prayers For Elizabeth

Posted by Aaron on March 25, 2007

Politics completely aside, what is most important today is that we pray for Elizabeth Edwards and the entire family. God listens, he acts….he wants us to pray, and so I shall for this very courageous woman and her family. I am so impressed with her strength in the face of this deadly disease. Lets all band together to ease her burden as we would want others to do for us. God Bless Elizabeth Edwards and may the healing hand of God be upon her.

New Zogby Poll: 46% of Voters would “Never” Vote for Hillary

Posted by Aaron on March 17, 2007

This poll
helps validate the opinions of those who believe Hillary Clinton will
have a very difficult, if not impossible, time ever getting elected
president. An overwhelming majority of conservatives and a shockingly
high percentage of moderates say they would never vote for her under
any circumstance. Although it is still very early, the poll seems to
indicate that voters this election cycle are looking towards the
future, and away from the past, as other candidates with long political
histories (Al Gore, Newt Gingrich) also poll very low.

Its all good news for John Edwards, who does not carry a long history of political baggage nor of being some kind of Washington insider with a thirst for power.
